pete walsh
producer
associated with band: 1981-1982,1986,1998

Pete Walsh "Peter, as some will know, was the producer of what many believe to be our finest album – New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84). That is saying something considering the list of album producers we have worked with, including Jimmy Iovine, John Leckie, Keith Forsey, Steve Lillywhite and Trevor Horn. I still find it hard to believe that Pete was only 21 years old when he produced that record. The guy youngest in the room, the rest of us were 22! In any case the Simple Minds story owes so much to Peter Walsh in particular." - Jim.

Originally commissioned to remix Sweat In Bullet for a single, Pete Walsh impressed the band with his production and so was asked to produce their next single, Promised You A Miracle and then the album New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84). His brief was to capture the band's live sound - which he didn't quite achieve but he captured something very special instead.

He was back behind the production desk again when he mixed the band's live Rotterdam Concert from their massive Once Upon A Time tour.

He returned as producer for Neapolis and its two singles.
