- Glittering Prize was issued to promote New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84) which appeared in the
shops a month later.
- The single simply featured edits and extended versions of the title track, paired with instrumental versions on the corresponding
B-side. As the first 'real' single from the album, Virgin didn't have to do much to ensure its success
(therefore there were no limited editions or non-album B-sides).
- Initial pressings were housed in card sleeves, whilst subsequent issues appeared in flimsy paper sleeves.
- A collectable French 7" promo also appeared, but despite the 7" and 12", there was little of interest for collectors.
