background
First entitled Pulse, Capital City was unveiled during the second leg of the
Real To Real Cacophony tour, where it was used as a brooding,
lengthy opening number.
(It is also registered in the publishing library as Pulse).
The demo was a noisy affair, being sensibly cleaned up for final
recording and inclusion on Empires And Dance.
It was a concert opener during the Empires And Dance Tour during which Simple Minds
supported Peter Gabriel. The Gabriel camp weren't too kind, referring to it as "The Bingy, Bingy, Bongy, Bongy Song."
lyrics
|
Nerve and nerve,
This coastline swerves,
To a city that they live on.
I walk on by,
Animals cry,
To a city that they live on.
To a city that they walk on.
To a city that they live on.
Pulse. Feel. Pulse.
This train is late,
I hesitate,
To a city that they live on.
Dance the dance of violence,
To a city that they live on.
To a city that they crawl on.
To a city that they live on.
Pulse. Feel. Pulse.
City that they live on.
Feel.
To a city that they crawl on.
To a city live on.
Feel.
City that they crawl on.
