The jamming sessions at Fife were the true genesis of New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84)
as the album's tracks began to take shape.
It was their only jamming session with Mike Ogletree.
No tapes of these sessions were logged with Virgin but some of the early jams exist in
Mick MacNeil's archive. These include an early instrumental jam called
Son Of Gods (which later became Arpeggio Song)
and various wild takes and improvisations on Sweat In Bullet.
Producer Pete Walsh sat in on some of the sessions and started to guide the
arrangements. It might be possible that the Monitor Mix of the
album was actually the final Fife recordings (as they were recorded on the 18th May).
