This Is Your Land

Coming hot on the heels of their first ever U.K. Number 1 in the shape of the Ballad Of The Streets EP, Simple Minds announce the first UK indoor gigs of their 1989 World Tour PLUS a new single.

The tour itself, will commence in Italy in May, but the UK leg will kick off with seven indoor dates. Three at WEMBLEY ARENA on JULY 25th, 26th and 27th, closely followed by two at BIRMINGHAM NEC on AUGUST 1st and 2nd and t wo at the SECC GLASGOW on August 8th and 9th. Tickets for all venues will be priced at 12.50 and 10.00.

In anticipation of heavy demand for these tickets and to facilitate easier ticket purchasing, box offices and managing ticket agents will open on SUNDAY APRIL 2nd. Should weather prove inclement, the promoter has arranged, at the request of the band, that ticket queues should be inside the buildings.

As a special concession to Simple Minds audience, the above two venues have, for the first time EVER, cleared the Arena Floors of seats and will have STANDING room instead. In order to keep the costs to fans down, car parking at the NEC will be free.

Best tickets will be available at the box offices and a certain amount of tickets will be held back for postal applicants. For full ticket details, please refer to attached sheets.

Details of the indoor Scottish, Irish and UK stadium dates will be announced shortly.

In the meantime, Virgin release a new single! On April 10th This Is Your Land - a track from the forthcoming album Street Fighting Years - will be unleased. It features on special cameo vocal, the legendary Lou Reed, a man the band have long been fans of themselves.

The B side will be a track not on the album, entitled Saturday Girl. On the 12" and CD single, an additional track (also not on the album) Year Of The Dragon completes the package. We predicted some months ago that 1989 was going to be Simple Minds glittering year and so far... so good!
