Scotland's Simple Minds who recently signed a long term worldwide recording deal with Virgin after quitting Arista, release their first Virgin single this Friday May 15. "The American" b/w " League Of Nations" is available as both a 7" single and in extended form as a 12". The 12" will sell for the same price as the 7" at £1.15 recommended retail price for the first 15,000 only.

The single is the first production collaboration between the band and Steve Hillage who has also lately been producing a number of other bands including Positive Noise and The Cuban Heels. The band are currently ensconsed at Rockfield Studios in Wales where they are recording the follow up to their highly acclaimed last album Empires And Dance. The album is tentatively set for late summer release and the band will undertake at least some U.K. gigs in conjunction with the band's releases.
