SIMPLE MINDS
Simple Minds follow up their worldwide hit, Alive And Kicking, with
a new single released on January 27th. It's titled Sanctify Yourself and is lifted from the band's album
Once Upon A Time.
Sanctify Yourself will be released in both 7 and 12 inch versions.
The 7" consists of Sanctify Yourself b/w . Sanctify Yourself (instrumental).
The 12" contains an extented remix of Sanctify Yourself b/w and extended remix version of the
instrumental.
Alive And Kicking is currently no. 4 on the US charts and has gone gold in Holland.
Once Upon A Time is platinum in Holland, double platinum in Canada, gold in Italy and France and
silver in Norway. The album is currently no. 18 in the US charts and is the band's biggest selling album in the US thus far. It is also nearing
platinum status in the UK.
Simple Minds resume the European leg of their world tour next week and will
play Germany, Scandanavia, Italy and France before hitting British soil for their sold out appearances in
Birmingham, London and Glasgow through to the first week of March. The band will then return to the U.S. for another extensive tour and
will visit Australia late in the year.
Simple Minds are lending their name to Amnesty International for
1986, their involvement will include allowing Amnesty to set up stands to distribute leaflets in each venue and the band
will be donating the fees of two of their concerts (one in America, one in Britain) to their cause. "We're on
such a crest we want Amnesty International to get the benefit of all the people we're
laying to this year" commented band spokesman Jim Kerr.
