At their peak Simple Minds were arguably the biggest band in the world. They sold out stadiums and notched up millions of album sales, however it was in their early period when the band developed a fanatical following, releasing a number of post punk classics. The albums Life In A Day, Real To Real Cacophony, Empires and Dance and New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84) along with the EPs Sons and Fascination and Sister Feelings Call contained music of such melodic intensity, listeners could only be drawn into the Simple Minds magic and from here the band exploded into a musical phenomenon.

This collection tracklisted by the band contains all the highlights from this period. As Jim Kerr said of the formative years of the band "the days simply melted into other days and our music eventually began to shine."
