scott mcarthur
manager
associated with band: mid 1977 - late 1977

Scott McArthur hailed from Dunblane and worked for Steve Mackie (later the founder of Housewives Choice) in Bruce's in Stirling. He then left to run a record shop in Glasgow called Graffiti, which was supplied by Steve Mackie, and was where Jim, Charlie, John and the other Self Abusers used to hang out.

Therefore The Abusers got to know both Scott and Steve, and through their associations various gigs were booked. Scott also acted in a managerial/adviser role for the band, chasing up Chiswick and arranging the first Simple Minds demo tape.

Scott moved onto London and became involved with The Psychadelic Furs. Steve Mackie was asked to manage the fledging Simple Minds (after booking them as often as he could) but he reluctantly declined - he had his own label (Housewives Choice) and was managing The Cuban Heels.

"A really nice guy and pivotal in the early days of the band" - Steve Mackie
