July 1982
tour winding up
|
The Sons And Fascination tour is now starting to wind up, but the fruits of the
band's labours in the studio are still slowly emerging. They've introduced two new songs to the set: the wonderful instrumental
Somebody Up There Likes You and
Someone Somewhere (In Summertime).
|
June 1982
tour continues
|
Promised You A Miracle is now a firm favourite in the set list, along with another new song called
King Is White And In The Crowd.
The band are now starting to concentrate more on European festivals, with writing and recording of the new album taking place during
the week.

April 1982
new single
|
Promised You A Miracle has amazingly reached #13 in the chart, and the band have made their
first appearance on Top Of The Pops.
|
February 1982
new album, new song, tour continues
|
The Celebration album will hardly set the world on fire, but is a handy introduction to
their first three albums. In a nice move, they even included
Kaleidoscope, which was previously only available on a
scratchy limited edition flexi disc.
It appears that one of the demo ideas worked on last month was too good to ignore. Called Promised You A Miracle,
the song is expected to be issued as a single in April.
The Sons And Fascination Tour continues: they're touring around mainland Europe for the
first part of the year, before concentrating on festivals in Europe and the UK.
Kenny Hyslop didn't work out as drummer, so Mike Ogletree
has now joined the band.

January 1982
new single, new demos
|
In a surprise move, Arista have reissued the I Travel single. This
is to promote a compilation of early material called Celebration next month. However, this single
will be of interest to fans as it features still more exclusive material from the Hammersmith Show.
In the meantime, Simple Minds have been working on new demos at Rockfield for a new album this year.
So far three songs have been outlined.
