There are tentative plans for a UK tour in January 1981, but due to poor promotion by Arista, the dates may end up getting scrapped.

The European Tour winds up this month with several solo dates around mainland Europe and the UK.

Arista have finally issued the excellent Empires And Dance along with a multi-format single I Travel. However, it's difficult finding it in the shops, as it seems Arista have only pressed a limited supply.

The tour with Peter Gabriel is underway, and the band have recruited Paul Wishart from Endgames as their saxophone player.

The new album is ready for release, but Arista seem reluctant to issue it. However, it's not all bad news: Peter Gabriel has offered to take Simple Minds on tour with him, and pay their expenses.

The dates have started to dwindle, and the band have now returned to the studio to write their third album. They're again working with John Leckie as producer.

The group have hooked up with Gary Numan for a couple of dates this month.

Bootlegs have started to appear, including a reasonable recording from the Paradiso in Amsterdam.

New songs include I Travel and the new opening track Capital City. Iggy Pop's Sister Midnight has also been covered a couple of times.

Two months after the release of the album, Simple Minds have released Changeling as a single.

It is the first release to feature a live recording of the band.

They've also just started a new European Tour which will visit France, Germany and other mainland countries.

The John Peel session featured the new song Room. Expect more new material as the tour continues.
