the music of simple minds: information

  • Jim and Charlie signed to BMG Rights Management (UK) Limited on the 1st January 2015. The company then became their music publishers and took over the resposibility of handling their back catalogue.

  • A year later, BMG issued The Music Of Simple Minds. This two-CD promotional sampler collected key tracks from the band's entire history; from Life In A Day through to Honest Town.

  • A Spotify Playlist was also created and published by the US branch of the company. This was slightly different to the double CD sampler issued in the UK.

  • The compilation mostly included the album versions of the songs.

  • It only featured songs for which BMG Rights Management (UK) Limited had rights to. Therefore it wasn't a "Best Of" as it had to omit Don't You (Forget About Me) (which wasn't written by the band).
