one step closer by planet funk featuring simple minds: information

  • Planet Funk gained worldwide recognition in 2001 with the dance single Chase The Sun. Building on this success, they fleshed out their band, and issued the album Non Zero Sumness in Italy in 2002.

  • The album opened with the Planet Funk composition Where Is The Max. This instrumental was given vocals by Jim, remixed, gained a new intro and appeared on Simple Minds' Cry album as One Step Closer.

  • On the 18th August, the album was issued in mainland Europe including the UK (Bustin' Loose/Illustrious ILLP004), whilst an enhanced album with bonus tracks called Non Zero Sumness Plus One was released in Italy (Virgin 7243 5 83915 2 7). The extras consisted of One Step Closer, Who Said and Rosa Blu.

  • This single was issued in Italy to promote/adverise this new limited edition.

  • The Planet Funk version of One Step Closer is a different mix of the Simple Minds version, and doesn't feature the opening intro.
